| What do you do when nothing works?: |
I've never abused drugs or alcohol and I've always worked for a living - I've always tried to help others whenever I could, yet I can remember a time when each day was a struggle. The days of the week were not as important as if it was day, evening or night.
The struggle was simple-just find something to eat, stay warm, dry and keep focused on hope of a better day. I had so much time to watch others come and go as I was seeking a place to sleep for the night ahead. Amid so much I had no money. You see, I was homeless - in the true sense of the word (without Food, Shelter and only had just the clothing I was wearing my car had been stolen just as I moved to Atlanta and I had no ID) that struggle went on for months as I fought to get myself together – there were no parents, friends or relatives to turn to. I learned that a sincere kindness from a stranger made a big difference – my pride would not allow me to ask anything of anyone and I nearly died on the street. It's been years since I was in that situation - I can relate to it as if it was just yesterday. I learned many important lessons and how easy it is to give up and let go of your faith and belief of better things to come.
If we learn to practice having faith and doing all we can to make it a better day we begin to feel things change, our thoughts are more positive and everything changes around us as well. Make it a great day and remember you can’t always change what comes your way – but you do have control of your attitude.
